Research Associate - Affymetrix/Gene Expression Profiling

Candidate will conduct gene expression profiling using state of the art transcript profiling technologies. The candidate will function as part of a larger team to apply gene expression technologies in the drug discovery process. This research associate will participate in the production profiling process including the isolation of RNA, sample labeling, array hybridization, data acquisition and analysis. Will also participate in reagent ordering, inventory control and instrument maintenance, calibration and documentation as required.

The candidate should possess a B.S. or M.S. degree in life sciences with an emphasis in molecular biology skills and techniques. Candidates must have experience in Affymetrix Gene Chip Technology, RNA isolation, handling, labeling, and hybridization. Practical experience in operating and troubleshooting automated liquid handling instrumentation and software is essential. Candidates should have some bioinformatics and analysis experience. Prior experience with documentation of laboratory processes, maintenance and training records preferred. Cell biology and cell culture experience is also preferred. Strong communication, organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment are essential.
